Bipolar Brought Balance YouTube now live!
We kicked off 2026 by launching the Bipolar Brought Balance YouTube channel! Please check it out, and hit that subscribe button. The first video sharing my bipolar disorder diagnosis story is live, and there will be more videos published in the coming weeks about my journey with ADHD, what success looks like to me, and how I’m managing unemployment while maintaining balance with my mental health.
When I first started podcasting for work, our show was strictly audio based. We took advantage of the traditional podcast medium, and stitched together 2 interviews for each episode - highlighting the perspective of business owners, and someone who wrote them a Yelp review. This approach was a lot of work, but also gave us a lot of creative ability to share the best parts of every story.
In 2025, we worked to bring Behind the Review to YouTube, knowing that podcasting was becoming a much more video forward medium. In many ways it felt like starting over and learning a new format entirely, but in other ways it was the natural progression for the show. I’m so grateful for the time I spent learning how to host and produce a show, as a full time job for a corporation. It gave me the opportunity to leverage resources and absorb an industry I knew nothing about, while getting paid to do it.
I may have a natural gift for interviewing people, and the basic understanding of marketing to spread the word on a good, service or product. But YouTube is a beast, and if it weren’t for the partnership with a video podcast agency, I don’t know that I’d be confident launching a YouTube channel for mental health content at all.
But that’s why I think this medium is so important in the next phase of my journey, and elevating stories of mental health intersecting with entrepreneurship. I know I’m not alone - far from it. There are so many people living with bipolar disorder, ADHD, or other mental health disorders or diagnoses, and that shouldn’t determine their ability to be successful. I want to share my own journey, and how opposite my narrative was. I want to interview others who recognize that their mental health journey is a super power, and an unlock for their success in their business, sport, or specialty.
For too long there has been stigma around mental health - specifically serious diagnoses like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Misinformation has caused people to think that holding a job, having successful relationships and fostering community is impossible for people with these conditions. It’s simply not true, and I’ve often found the opposite.
My mental health episode and diagnosis were the wake up call I needed to prioritize myself and take care of my mental wellness. But it wasn’t the moment I started living with bipolar disorder. That was just the point when I started knowingly living with it. Once I learned more about it, and started giving myself grace and trust, my life improved! Bipolar disorder didn’t ruin my life, it explained things and helped me live a more happy, balanced life. And I know that can be true for others.
I look forward to continuing to share my journey in the written form AND video. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or think there’s a topic I should cover. Emily@bipolarbroughtbalance.com, or comment below!
